His personality has been so strong since the day we got him. As the vet here in Germany says, in his Anglo-German drawl "He's a fighter this one, you're going to have a bloody fun time with him". Now he is saying 'fun time' but what he means in eaten shoes, biting your socks, not being able to leave him unattended unless you have puppy proofed the room, apologising to people as he excitedly tangles them up in his lead, steals their food and puts muddy paw prints on their clean white trousers, tripping over him as he trots along between your legs, putting everything you own that you don't want chewed above waist height, running after him as he steals shoes from the neighbour's porch and other 'fun' adventures.
I have been invited into countless neighbour's houses and met so many new people through him. He seems to be the star of our street with people not able to pass by without saying hello to him. He loves everyone and everything and is scared of absolutely nothing, except the hoover!
It is fascinating to see him grow and develop. He's 13 weeks now and in the 5 weeks we have had him he has responded so well to training, is playing well with other dogs and although testing the waters every day he is generally well behaved under a strict, firm hand.
Just for fun I've put together some 'Puppy Problems' that I know other dog owners will understand! Feel free to send me any funny stories you have about your pooch!
Unloading the dishwasher is a daily battle. I can now do it one handed!
His food prep is as important as mine, often we share!
Tights are no longer an option. Sturdy, un-ripable jeans are the only way to go.
I no longer wear shoes with laces.
He never stays still for long. Not even for a photo.
I now know what 6am on a Sunday clock looks like.
He manages to personally select expensive items from the midst of a range of cheap, not so loved items like Zara wool scarf and Mongolian hand stitched slippers.
You buy him a comfy new bed with orthopaedic mattress, cover it with toys and he chooses to lie on the floor on a blanket next to a torn up egg carton.
Digging up the garden is great fun especially just after the floor has been hoovered. But his nose goes black and I can't help but laugh as he looks like a certain famous dictator! And we live in Germany!
Eating your food is way more fun outside the bowl on the just cleaned floor.
Helping me do yoga is great fun and not at all distracting.
There are treats and poo bags in my pocket, handbag and car constantly.
It doesn't matter that I have just cleaned the windows. Eamon needs to do his Titaniac impression. "I'll never let go Rose"
What do you mean the couch is for humans?
Of course chewing the chew toy is way more fun on my foot. I don't mind that my toes get in the way some times.
It's been a while since I have gone to the toilet without an audience.
But when all that is said and done he is the most loving, fun and sweet dog. He makes us smile on a daily basis. He is absolutely an old soul and this is not his first time on this Earth. Sometimes I feel like I should give him a pipe and Paddy Cap and sit by the fire while he tells me a story with his little old man face. "Back in my day...."
He has captured the hearts of everyone who met him and we are so lucky to have him in our family!
